چکیده

Group decoding receivers [1], [2] (GDRs) are an attractive way to improve performance of multiuser systems with highly correlated users. These reduced complexity receivers use jointly the coding information of a subset of users and the multiuser information. Performance of GDR for synchronous multiple-access channels is upper bounded in [2]. However, upper bounds of GDR for asynchronous multipleaccess channels (where the effect of error propagation is critical), have not been reported so far. In this paper, we derive an upper bound for the performance of GDR for asynchronous multiple-access channels considering error propagation effects. We show that performance analysis based exclusively on minimum distance error events is poor, even at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). To improve the accuracy of analytical estimates, new bounds accounting for the contribution of non-minimum distance error events and error propagation are derived. Comparisons with values obtained from computer simulations show the excellent accuracy of the proposed bounds. Our results also reveal that performance of GDR in channels with highly correlated users is severely affected by error propagation. To mitigate this problem, we propose a new scheme based on the combination of the generalized Viterbi algorithm and the GDR. We show that the proposed receiver is able to nearly eliminate error propagation with low additional complexity.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Bounds for Multiple-Access Relay Channels with Feedback via Two-way Relay Channel

In this study, we introduce a new two-way relay channel and obtain an inner bound and an outer bound for the discrete and memoryless multiple access relay channels with receiver-source feedback via two-way relay channel in which end nodes exchange signals by a relay node. And we extend these results to the Gaussian case. By numerical computing, we show that our inner bound is the same with o...

On the Achievable Rate-Regions for the Gaussian Two-way Diamond Channels

In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...

Performance of soft metrics for convolutional coded asynchronous fast FHSS-MA networks using BFSK under Rayleigh fading

Performance of robust soft decoding metrics is examined for use in convolutional coded asynchronous fast frequency-hop spread-spectrum multiple-access networks using binary frequency-shift keying under Rayleigh fading channels. For comparison, maximum-likelihood metrics based on a Gaussian approximation are derived. Significant gains are observed compared to hard decision decoding by using appr...

Extension of the Coverage Region of Multiple Access Channels by Using a Relay

From practical and theoretical viewpoints, performance analysis of communication systems by using information-theoretic results is important. In this paper, based on our previous work on Multiple Access Channel (MAC) and Multiple Access Relay Channel (MARC), we analyze the impact of a relay on the fundamental wireless communications concept, i.e., coverage region of MARC, as a basic model for u...
